How can you tell when it’s the holiday season in Cincinnati? Well, by the Festival of Lights, of course. Now enjoying its 28th year, the exhibit runs until January 2 from 5-9pm (excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and is considered one of the largest and most anticipated holiday events of the season at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Some new highlights for the 2010 season include new themed areas such as Fairy Land; story telling with Mrs. Claus, rapping elves, a wild lights show on Swan lake, a gingerbread village, and a Happy Feet 4D experience. While the lights are slated between the hours of 5pm and 9pm, why not come early to enjoy the zoo and gardens and then stay for the Festival of Lights since there is no additional fee beyond regular zoo admission. And while there, why not consider doing some Christmas shopping at the zoo gift shop or gifting a zoo membership or education program certificate. Talk about one-stop shopping and having fun at the same time! Don’t miss this holiday tradition especially if you’ve never attended before and can use this year as the first in becoming your family’s newest seasonal tradition!
